Digitizing in ArcGIS Pro

Image
I learned two basic digitizing techniques using ArcGIS Pro. I Digitized converts image data to vector digital data. In manual digitizing I traced the  lines or points from the source media. I sampled vertices using the mouse to define  the point, line, or polygonal features I wished to capture.   I digitized and edited features from a scanned photo. GIS data are commonly  entered from images because methods for creating geometrically accurate images have  become relatively inexpensive over the past two decades, and we can easily adjust the  display scale, zooming in or out as needed. This often reduces both interpretation and  digitizing errors.

Getting to know ArcGIS Pro

I completed a tutorial created by ESRI that is designed to introduce imagery and Remotely sensed data. This tutorial was a refresher from last semester. 1. introduction 2. image properites 3. seeing beyond the visible 4. imagery in ArcGIS pro

Building map with UAS data

Image
Orthomosaic, DSM, DEM DSM stands for digital surface model and DEM stands for digital elevation model.  The main difference lies in the content I captured. DSMs include all surface features (both natural and artificial), while DEMs specifically focus on representing the elevation of the bare Earth's surface, When using the swipe tool to compare orthomosaic and DSM, I could notice how the orthomosaic aligns with the underlying terrain features depicted in the shaded relief of the DSM.  The orthomosaic and the shaded relief of the DSM provide different perspectives of the same area. The orthomosaic will show the actual visual appearance of the landscape, including objects, buildings, roads, etc., while the DSM shaded relief will reveal the underlying elevation variations that influence the terrain's appearance in the orthomosaic. Building the map with UAS data  I made three types of the map(shaded DSM with transparent DSM on top, orthomosaic map and orthomosaic map with a ...

the instruction for processing GCPS. 1. Obtain GCPs measurements in the field 2. On the menu bar, click View > Processing. The Processing bar appears at the bottom of the main Window. 3. Select 1. Initial Processing and deselect 2. Point Cloud and Mesh and 3. DSM, Orthomosaic and Index. 4. Click Start. 5. Add / import and mark ONLY 3 of the GCPs in the rayCloud 6. After having imported the 3 GCPs and having reoptimized the reconstruction, add / import the remaining GCPs with the GCP/MTP Manager WITHOUT marking them. 7. Mark the GCPs in the rayCloud 8. Click Process > Reoptimize. 9. (optional) Regenerate the quality report by clicking Process > Generate Quality Report. Initially Process the data first before setting GCPs. Figure 1,2: initial processing   I did initial processing with rapid in key points image scale. Figure 3: point...

Instructions: ·         Check out Skydio 2+ and safety vest from dispatch (Everyone must have a safety vest). ·         Drive to 2112 Beck Lane, Lafayette, IN, 47909. ·         Upon arrival, set up the Skydio 2+ and walk around the perimeter of the building and the inside of the building to get a better understanding of the environment that you will be flying. o    What potential hazards do you see? I could find the basketball nets. skydio 2 + ai obstacle avoidance can’t work on the nets. ·         Anyone who is not flying will be simulating either a hostage or a combatant and will be placed throughout the building. HOSTAGES will be wearing civilian clothes and COMBATANTS will be wearing safety vests. ·         When instructed, the pilot will takeoff from outside of the building and fly the Skydio 2+ thro...

Mission Report: 3D Scan and Data Collection

Mission 1: 3D object mapping mission (Submitter: Jinwook & Joel)   Weather conditions ●        Cloud Cover: Clear ●        Wind Direction: NE to SW ●        Wind Speed: 4 mph ●        Temp: 72° F   After we checked the potential hazards in the street view of google maps and confirmed that there we could fly without problems, we got permission from LAANCE (Class D, 400 feet) LAANCE APPROVAL: ALTTVJQZJU10 We made an emergency plan (if the aircraft looks unstable, land as soon as possible).   2D mapping mission with skydio 2 + We flew the drone Sykio 2+ with 2D landmowing pattern and opposing grid lines over the area shown in the image below. The intended scan area was constituted of 5 parking slots, the mission was originally planned to have a camera lens angle of 90 degrees for the first pass, 80 degrees for the se...
